Car history: |
1970 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible for sale: Nice, original numbers matching 350/300 horse 4 speed Vette that's been stored inside it's whole life. It's very clean, straight with virtually no damage. There's only one crack in the body - 1 1/2" vertical crack right above front tire, 11 O'Clock position right between the stress relief cut out in the front fender. Very thin crack and can't really feel it from the inside. It looks more like paint peeling, but it's there. Car spent the last 30 plus years in Minnesota garage. Previous owner maybe put 1000-1500 miles per year on it. Original mileage on car shows 60,727 miles. Odometer quit turning about 1,000 miles ago. Almost everything on the car works, except clock and odometer. Speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure gauge, temp. gauge, door ajar lights, seat belt lights, bright light, right/left tail panel lights, lights, turn signals, windshield wipers all work. Mechanically the car is very sound. Starts easy, idles great, sounds great, shifts great and drives good. The car runs cool and doesn't smoke. Oil just changed and new battery installed. Previous owner replaced both bumpers, dash pad, door panels and top. Interior is very clean and all the gauges look great. The seats are in good condition, but small seam coming loose on driver side. The seats really need original skins put back on. I'm not a big fan of the crush velvet velour inserts, but it was cool back in the day.... The top is in good condition with no cracks or tears. The original jack is long gone, but the used original spare tire is still there. The original blue sticker is still on the driver door. VIN on engine, door pillar, blue sticker and title all match. I pulled back the rubber boot around the gas cap and I can see the corner of the original build sheet. I have no idea the condition or how legible it really is. Under the hood is pretty much all original except for previous owner did have a security system wired up at some point. Underneath is not pretty - definitely Minnesota patina. It's all surface rust and no rot. Structurally it's very solid. Window pillars are solid. This is a low option car - PS. Brakes have been converted to stainless steel calipers and silicone brake fluid. Pretty rare exterior color - 993, which is Corvette bronze. This is truly a nice driver, in need of paint. Old acrylic enamel paint from the 80's is spider cracking and peeling. There is nothing on this car that is in show condition. It's driver quality. Everything is pretty much there and pretty much free of damage. The stainless, such as front and rear bumpers have some pitting underneath. The tires are older Goodyear Eagle ST's with about 1/4-1/2 tread. They are in very good shape for age and absolutely no weather cracking. I have the original radio that came out of the car. It will be included in sale. Clear Minnesota title. I prefer all interested buyers come look. The car is located in Shenandoah, Iowa. The reserve is set at $12,500 and very fair for original 70 Vette Convertible. Buyer is 100% responsible for shipping arrangements and cost. I will assist loading. I personally don't think the pictures do this car justice. It's a clean car and worthy of restoring. I'm very confident the new buyer will be happy with the purchase.
